The adaptable wire rope hoists from STAHL CraneSystems are designed as an uncompromisingly modular system and calculated for an S.W.L. range from 500 kg to 160,000 kg. The modular system ensures rationalised production at the highest level of quality and maximum flexibility. The versatile SH series is available for the S.W.L. range from 500 kg to 25,000 kg in five frame sizes with 26 S.W.L. variants. The upper S.W.L. range up to 100,000 kg is covered by the tried-and-tested AS 7.

The SHW 8 winch programme extends the area of application into the heavy load range up to 160,000 kg. A compact, sturdy construction is concealed behind the attractive design of STAHL CraneSystems’ wire rope hoists. They are extremely reliable, extremely powerful and have above-average service life. The particularly smooth, precise starting and braking characteristics are common to all.

  • Operating temperature: -20 to +40 celcius.
  • SH hoist developed for low maintenance.
  • Hoist brake maintenance free.
  • Condition monitoring (SLE21) standard fitment – overload, thermal protection, operating hours.
  • Hoist thermal protection is electronic thermister control via SLE21 (not thermal couples ) thermister measures resistance due to heat and when activated cuts the raise and lower motions – 90% of the time a motor will burn out in the lower motion.
  • Overload limiter is load cell via SLE21 (not mechanical with micro switch) this provides more accuracy and can be adapted to log hoisted loads and load display.
  • Double beam crabs have pivoting end carriages to ensure all wheels are equally loaded.

HOIST COMPONENTS

  • Gearbox made by Stahl.
  • Up to Model SH5, gearbox non serviceable – assembled in clean room for life.
  • Model SH6 has split housing gearbox.
  • All bearings either German: FAG or Japanese: SKF.
  • All gears are helical cut ( quiet running ), flame hardened and ground teeth.
  • All the steel is sourced from European manufacture.
  • All the shafts are ground finish ( not machine finished ) for longer seal life.
  • All seals are German: Wurth brand – double lipped.
  • Hoist motors are manufactured in Europe.
  • Manual hoist brake release is available.
  • Hoist brake is non adjustable, brake disc wear is determined by air gap measurement through an inspection hole ( easy access ).
  • Hoist motor is mounted outside of drum for improved cooling and maintenance access.
  • Hoist ropes are German: Diepa brand. All rope are wire rope core construction.
  • All ropes are non rotating on hoists: 1/1, 2/1, 4/1. ropes are anchored with a swivel.
  • Rope guide is cast iron and full circular around drum. Includes slack rope tension spring.
  • Electric contactors are Telemecanique brand. ( 42, 48, 230 or 110V. coils).
  • Brake rectifier power source is connected from motor star point on the fast and slow winding for safety – if one motor winding fails the brake will not release.
  • Hoist limits are geared type with fast raise cut out. Can add up to 16 more limits for extra functions – can detect hook position.
  • Standard fitment hoist condition monitoring (SLE21):
    • Overload cut out set at 110%.
    • Prevents inching by timing re-push of button to protect motor.
    • Records operating hours for servicing assessment.
    • Monitors hoist temperature ( can be adapted for trolley motor protection )
    • Has a fault indicator light.
    • Has outputs for fitment of relays to operate fault warning lights, horn, etc.
    • Optional fitment of SMC21 condition monitoring provides:
      • Load display.
      • Multiple loading control.
      • Prevents shock loading if operator tries to lift in fast – starts in slow then auto into fast.
      • Motor temperature control including trolley.
      • Eliminates hoist inching.
      • Optional attachment can control slack rope.
      • Converts operating hours into full load hours for life assessment.
      • 90% of German customers fit SMC21.

Pendant are telemecanique built specially for Stahl – are interchangeable with non OEM pendants unlike Demag and Abus which are not.

Stahl uses the German HBC radio control systems. Receivers are fitted to the hoist and bridge panels so only a power supply system is required for the hoist.
