Statutory Inspections

By partiicpating in an Austin Hoist & Crane Ongiong Maintenance Agreement you can rest assured that your statutory service and inspection comitments will be scheduled and automatically undertaken by our highly skilled site maintenance teams.

Through our regular inspections, your worksite is also able to be regularly assessed for safety hazards and potential unacceptable work practices as they relate to your hoists and cranse, further ensuring your OH&S comittments are fulfilled.

You have the added advantage of our electronic logging of maintenance and inspection data which means that critical reporting is always available to you.

Australian Standard AS2550.3 - 2005 stipulates the following inspections that should be carried out:

  • "Periodic inspections" no more than 12 months apart.
  • "Major' inspections" to determine bridge and gantry cranes suitability for continued use.
    • Intervals of no more than 10 years on mechanical,
    • Intervals of no more than 25 years on structural.
  • "Third-party inspections" should be conducted as per AS2550.3 inspection table based on operating hours per day and crane classification.

In addition a bridge and gantry crane service record book should be kept for each crane and contain the following minimum information:

  • Significant events concerning safety in relation to the bridge or gantry crane.
  • Significant events concerning operation of the bridge or gantry crane.
  • Documentation in relation to inspections by competent persons.
  • Documentation in relation to maintenance.
